Object history Welden ist seit 1402 Markt. Im Jahr 1850 wünschte der Markt, der bis dahin ein einfaches Schriftsiegel führte, ein Wappen. Die Turmruine erinnert an eine Burg, in die angeblich ein römischer Turm eingebaut war und die im Dreißigjährigen Krieg zerstört wrude. An ihrer Stelle stiftete Joseph Maria Graf Fugger 1755 die Votiv-Kirche St. Thekla. Die Fugger erwarben 1597 die Herrschaft in Welden. Bis zum Aussterben der Linie Fugger-Wellenburg 1764 blieb sie in ihren Händen. Die Kirche ist heute Klosterkirche des 1931 errichteten Karmeliterinnen-Klosters.
