Deutsch: Das Wappen, geführt seit 1951, erklärt sich aus den ehemaligen Territorialverhältnissen ausgangs des 18. Jhds. Von den 32 Gemeinden des Amtes gehörten ehedem 16 Gemeinden zu Kurköln (schwarzes Balkenkreuz), 9 Gemeinden zu Kurtrier (rotes Balkenkreuz), 7 Gemeinden zur Grafschaft Virneburg (sieben rote Rauten) Nach der Verwaltungsreform 1970 kamen 5 neue Gemeinden hinzu (Beinhausen, Boxberg, Hörschhausen, Katzwinkel, Neichen).
