English: „Vert, between a chevron inverted wavy Argent, gules a sunwheel Argent with a black eye.“
The arms were drawn by Kurt Schweder who designed coats of arms for all districts of Essen in die 1980s; they were never official used, but meanwhile recognized by the citizens of Essen and its districts. The arms is canting; "Over Rore" or "Overruhr" means "village on the other side of the Ruhr river"; the municipality lays on an oxbow towards the powerful chapter of Rellinghausen, where it belonged to. The sunwheel symbolises the germanical archaeological finds in the area. |
