Deutsch: Sulz verdankt seinen Namen den Salzquellen, die bis zu Beginn des 19. Jahrhunderts ausgebeutet wurden. Seit Mitte des 13. Jahrhunderts gehörte die Herrschaft Sulz den Herren von Geroldseck, auf deren Betreiben der Ort 1284/85 ein königliches Stadtprivileg erhielt. 1471 gelangte Württemberg in den Besitz von Herrschaft und Stadt. Das älteste Stadtsiegel (Abdrucke seit 1252) enthält das Wappen der Stadtherren (in Gold ein roter Balken) zwischen zwei Haken, die als Salzsiederhaken angesprochen werden. Wappenzeichnungen von 1535 und 1596 zeigen den Geroldsecker Schild und zwei silberne Haken in schwarzem Schild. Ab 1596 ist das obere goldene Feld mit einer Hirschstange (Württemberg) belegt. Die zu Dekorationsstücken degenerierten Haken fielen im 19. Jahrhundert weg. Die jetzt gültige Wappenzeichnung wurde vom Innenministerium am 17. Juli 1968 bestätigt. |
