Object history
Deutsch: Das Wappen leitet sich von einem Gemeindesiegel ab, dessen Gebrauch seit 1510 belegt ist. Das Siegelbild zeigt einen Bischof, der in der Linken einen Bischofsstab und in der Rechten ein aufgeschlagenes Buch hält. Die Figur des Bischofs bezieht sich wohl auf das Würzburger Domkapitel, das seit dem 13. Jahrhundert die Ortsherrschaft von Stockheim innehatte. Im 17. Jahrhundert kam der Ort an den Fürstbischof von Würzburg und gehörte seitdem zum Amt Mellrichstadt. Die Zinnenmauer erinnert an die frühere Ortsbefestigung, von der noch markante Reste erhalten sind.
