Object history
Deutsch: Die Gemeinde Schwanstetten besteht seit 1978 aus den ehemals selbstständigen Gemeinden Schwand und Leerstetten und führt seitdem den Namen Schwanstetten. Der Schwan ist einem Gerichtssiegel von Schwand aus dem Jahr 1468 entnommen. Er steht redend für den nicht mehr verstandenen Ortsnamen. Dieser weist darauf hin, dass Schwand eine Rodungssiedlung ist, wo man den Wald durch Brandrodung (schwenden) zum Schwinden brachte; er bedeutet Siedlung im abgeholzten Wald. Der von Schwarz und Silber geteilte Schildhaupt erinnert an die Herrschaft der zollerischen Burggrafen von Nürnberg und späteren Markgrafen, die seit 1267 im Gemeindegebiet nachweisbar sind. Der zinnenförmige Schnitt steht redend für den Ortsnamenbestandteil -stetten.
