Object history
Deutsch: In dem 1950 durch den Niedersächsischen Minister des Innern genehmigten Ortswappen steht als Wahrzei­chen der Gemeinde Sande die obere Hälfte des Turms von Marienhausen mit der charakteristischen Bedachung. Marienhausen wurde von der Landesherrin des Je­vergebietes, Fräulein Maria, aus dem Hause der Häuptlinge von Jever im 16. Jahr­hundert erbaut. Auch durch die Eindeichung von Land im heutigen Bereich hat sie sich dauernde Erinnerung gesichert. Darauf deutet auch der Löwe hin (Stadtwappen Jever). Die Nähe der Nordsee unweit des Jadebusens betonen die schmalen Wel­lenbalken. Gold und Blau sind die alten Wappenfarben von Jever, zusammen mit Rot spielen sie auf die Hauptfarben des Oldenburger Wappens an.
English: The arms were granted in 1950. The right half of the arms shows the tower of Marienhausen in the municipality, built in the 16th century. The lion is taken from the arms of the Lords of Jever. In the 16th century Lady Maria von Jever had the church built and she also ordered a large area to be reclaimed from the sea as a polder. The waves symbolise the North Sea.
