Deutsch: Das Wappen wurde am 31. Juli 1848 durch König Maximilian II. von Bayern verliehen. Es vereinigt Siegelbilder von Motiven seit dem 15. Jahrhundert. Das Wappen entstammt einem Siegel aus dem Jahre 1634. Der Wellenbalken steht für den Kuselbach und der Krummstab für das Remigiusland, dass die Besitzungen des Benediktinerklosters auf dem Remigiusberg umfasste; sein Hof bildete den Kern der Siedlung.
English: The arms were granted on July 31, 1848 by King Maximilian II of Bavaria. They are based on elements from the old seals of the city. The bend wavy symbolises the Kuselbach. The crozier is a symbol of St. Remigius. A large part of the area belonged since the 10th to a Benedictine Abbey, founded from Reims in France. Its patron saint was St. Remigius. Around the abbey Kusel the city developed and received city rights around 1286. |
