Deutsch: Kanzem gehört bis zur französischen Revolution in der Herrschaft Wiltingen zum Herzogtum Luxemburg. Dafür steht im oberen Schildteil das geminderte luxemburgische Wappen.
Kanzem = BUB 1030: Camesa. Der Bahname ´asa` aus der indogermanischen Wurzel "as" = schiessen, schnellen, ist ein häufig vorkommendes Grundwort, dessen ursprüngliche Bedeutung "Fluß" ist. In der Vorsilbe ´cam `ist vielleicht das althochdeutsche `ham`= kümmern, biegen, umringen, enthalten. Kanzem liegt an der großen Flussschleife, die die Saar zwischen Wiltingen und Filzen S-förmig bildet. Canzem heißt demnach, der in der Flussbiegung gelegene Ort. |
