Deutsch: Wappen der ehemaligen Bauerschaft Gerschede, seit 1915 Stadtteil von Essen: „In Silber (Weiß) eine grüne Spitze, belegt mit einer silbernen (weißen) Saufeder.“ Das Wappen wurde von Kurt Schweder entworfen und hatte nie offiziellen Charakter. Ende der 1980er Jahre schuf der Heraldiker für alle Essener Stadtteile Wappen. Sie sind inzwischen von der Essener Bevölkerung gut angenommen worden. Gerschede stammt von "Gertschede", wie es im 1220 in einer kleinen Vogteirolle dokumentiert wurde. In anderen Quellen deutet der Namen auf eine keilförmigen Scheid hin. Das Wappen ist ein sogenanntes "redendes Wappen"; die Speerspitze (hier eine Saufeder steht für "Ger" und die grüne Spitze für "schede".English: „Chapé, Argent and vert, charged with a boar spear head Argent.“
The arms were drawn by Kurt Schweder who designed coats of arms for all districts of Essen in die 1980s; they were never official used, but meanwhile recognized by the citizens of Essen and its districts. Gerschede was named "Gertschede" in the 13th century. The arms are canting; the boar spear head stands for "Ger" and chapé field for "schede". |
