Object history
Deutsch: Eußerthal war Sitz des berühmten Zisterzienserklosters gleichen Namens, dessen Konventssiegel von 1527 nur als Fragment erhalten ist. Das zu 1530 überlieferte Sekretsiegel des Klosters Zeigt einen Abt mit Abtstab in gotischem Gehäuse, vermutlich den heiligen Bernhard, während das große Konventssiegel von 1557 die Madonna mit Kind, auf einem breiten Kissen sitzend und beseitet von je einem fliegenden Engel, darstellt. Die Wappenverleihung folgte der Darstellung des großen Konventssiegels in den Kunstdenkmälern, ersetzte aber die Madonna durch die Gestalt des heiligen Bernhard.
