Object history
Deutsch: Das Wappen ist abgeleitet von einem Siegel aus dem 16. Jahrhundert. Es zeigt ohne Schild über der im braunschweigischem Raum heraldisch häufigeren Initiale des Ortsnamens einen linkshin schreitenden Löwen. Im 17. Jahrhundert ließ man auch in den Siegeln den Buchstaben weg; der Löwe erschien fortan meistens gekrönt. Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts kehrte man wieder zum ältesten Vorbild zurück und gab der Initiale die jetzige Gestaltung.
