Object history

Die Gemeinde Ernst bestand aus den früheren Ortsteilen Ober- und Niederernst. Der Pfarrpatron in Oberernst war Christus (Salvator mundi), deshalb als eines der Symbole

Christi das Kreuz, das außerdem als rotes Balkenkreuz in Silber das Wappen Kurtriers darstellt und so an die ehe­malige Landesherrschaft der Kurfürsten und Erzbischöfe von Trier in Ernst erinnert. Die neun Kugeln weisen auf den Pfarrpatron von Niederernst hin, denn Quirinus führtein seinem Wappenschild neun Kugeln. Die Farbe grün deutet auf Landwirtschaft und Weinbau hin.
