English: U.S. Army Soldiers from 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division pose in front of a 4th Inf. Div. Monument with American World War II veteran, George Merz , June 3, 2022, during the D-Day 78th Anniversary Events, at Montebourg, Normandie, France. The town held a ceremony marking seventy-eight years since the liberation, commemorating the sacrifices made by U.S. Soldiers and also remembering the French citizens who lost their lives during the fierce fighting.
