Происходит из собрания графов Уваровых в имении Поречье Можайского уезда Московской губернии.

Дарья Ивановна Уварова — дочь генерал-интенданта И.Г. Головина и княжны Голицыной. Поэт ЮЛ. Нелединский-Мелецкий, часто бывавший в доме Головиных, посвящал ей свои песни и романсы. С 178s — вторая жена графа С.Ф. Уварова, флигель- адъютанта императрицы Екатерины II и вице-полковника лейб-гренадерского полка, погибшего в Русско-шведской войне 1788-1790. Дети: Сергей —министр народного просвещения, президент Петербургской Академии наук, член Государственного совета; Фёдор — генерал-майор, герой Отечественной войны 1812 года, крестный отец И.С. Тургенева Внук Алексей Сергеевич — известный археолог, учредитель археологических съездов в России, председатель Московского археологического общества, создатель Исторического музея в Москве.
