(active 1460s) Deposition c. 1465 Engraving, 227 x 179 mm Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, San Francisco The engraver of this print is named the Master of the Banderoles for his frequent use of inscribed scrolls. He was a follower of Master E.S., one of the most influential engravers in the third quarter of the fifteenth century. This master copied not only the compositions of Master E.S., but those of the Master of the Playing Cards other German and Netherlandish painters.
