[edit]DescriptionCuriously Fast Degradation of Small Lunar Craters (LROC1009 - content a16 animated circles).gif |
English: In this closeup (above) of part of the Apollo 16 study area, funnel-shaped degraded craters ("C" class) are marked with blue circles, the intermediate degradation class ("B") are circled in yellow-orange, and the freshest craters ("A" class) are circled in green. An example of an "A" crater is conveniently highlighted by bright and dark rays in the lower part of the image, just right of center; the rays, made of light ejecta and dark melted rock, attest to its youth. Center latitude 9.09°S, center longitude 15.44°, image width two kilometers, image M152770233LR [NASA/GSFC/Arizona State University]. |
