o more until another Summer comes. Theflowers that have been sent to you this Summer fromthe country have all said the same thing to you as youlooked at their bright little faces. Perhaps you didnot hear what they were saying; or, possibly, you didnot even know that they spoke at all, for a flowersvoice is very soft and low. Still, they all kept repeat-ing their little message to you untii they died, and Iwant you to listen for it whenever you see a flower, andnever forget it as long as you live. This what they allsay: god is love; he loves you; YOU ARE HIS CHILD. Flowers are given to sick children from this Mis-sion ; not only to those connected with this school,but to little ones in all parts of our great city. In-deed, during the year thousands and thousands ofbouquets are distributed from this floral depot; andthere is in connection with this distribution, what iscalled The Sick Childrens Fund,—medicine,clothing, nourishment, and medical attendance beinggiven free of charge. 220

In Clover. 27ie Flower School at Corlears Hook. Another attraction of the school-room is a wonder-ful Mino Bird; a native of India, and very rarelyseen in this country. It is a talking bird, and thisparticular specimen seems to have a human intelli-gence and speech. He is the size of a Bantam chick-en, has dark green iridescent plumage, and a longyellow beak. He whistles Captain Jinks, asks forbread very frequently, saying in a plaintive voice : Give poor Mino some bread, calls Come in,when any one knocks at the door, and Good-by when a guest departs. Little girls and boys are both taught during thedaytime in this pretty school-room ; but, in the eve-ning, a larger number of news-boys and boot-blacks,and boys who find their living as they can. are busygetting an education. In short, there is a night-school for boys too poor to attend the day-schools;and on one side of the opening into the conservatoryfrom the school-room, is their Savings Bank. Inevery way the boys, and the girls too,
