Title
Cufflinks : Post-medieval
Description
English: A pair of silver cufflinks of Post medieval date (AD 1662). The object is in two parts due to a small fracture in one end of the silver wire link at the reverse of the object.

The form of the object is of two circular disks with downturned, bevelled edges, which are bent in places. The face is decorated in counter-relief with two hearts with a crown above. The back has two retained projecting, sub-triangular, silver wire loop, circular in cross-section, through which the broken elongated silver wire joining loop passes.

The decorative pattern on the faces of the object make this a type A cufflink.

Such objects are believed to commemorate the wedding of Charles II to Catherine of Braganza in 1662.
