Summary

[edit]
Description

"During the Edo period, the 'Kanda Festival,' a superb example of Edo commoner vitality, was held every other year on the fifteenth day of the ninth month. On the day of the festival, portable shrines (mikoshi) were carried through the streets, accompanied by over thirty floats and other exhibits. This parade was allowed to enter the Edo castle compound, where it was viewed by the shogun.

This model is a replica of the eigth float, representing Suda-cho during the late Edo period."
