| Description |
English: Crookes, Crookes On the right, just above Coombe Road is Mr Bs Off Licence and back in the 60s it was a Butchers Shop. Beyond the house is DJs News, which as the name suggests, is a Newsagents, as it was back then. Next door is Da Vinci Hair, Hairdressers, which used to be Darnells Drapers Shop. There are a couple more houses and between them and The Works Beauty Studio, is Wesley Lane.
On this side of the road, just beyond Bute Street, was Ideal Upholstery Services - Charles Scruton, Hairdresser - Dow Electrics, Electrical Appliance Dealers and H Vicars, Fishmonger. All gone by the '70s. Charles Scruton, the hairdresser was a pleasant mildmannered man. The problem with him was that he was good at his job and so the shop was nearly always full, which often meant a long wait. |
