Joachim II. portraited almost life-size in half-length figure is looking at the viewer. Over his sumptuous robe he wears a fur waist-coat. The sable hat is decorated with the Christ monogram ihs, and Joachim holds a rosary in his left and a glove in his right hand. In this portrait Joachim appears older compared with the Perini portrait. |

| Notes | In 1563, Joachim II declared his Lutheran profession of faith, but the rosary in this portrait suggests he is not a Protestant. In 1569, following negotiations with his brother-in-law, the Polish King Sigismund II Augustus, Joachim was co-enfoeffed with the Duchy of Prussia. The striking fur hat worn by Joachim has been interpreted by some researchers as a Polish item of apparel possibly intended to manifest his close connection with the Polish throne. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
