Summary
[edit]DescriptionCraig y Ddinas above Sychryd - geograph.org.uk - 819090.jpg |
English: Craig y Ddinas above Sychryd Steep cliffs of Carboniferous Limestone tower above the waters of Sychryd on the southern side of the Craig y Ddinas promontory. This location is a fascinating one not just for the geologist but also for the botanist and the industrial archaeologist. These shaded valleys are designated as 'special areas for conservation' ('SACs') under the European Habitats Directive with the intention that the rare and interesting bryophytes (mosses and liverworts) which they harbour are protected though activities such as gorge-walking may pose something of a threat to them. |
