Animal characteristics: Head-Body Length: 55-76 cm; Weight: 3-7 kg; Identification: The crab-eating raccoon is yellowish-red to brown to grayish-brown. It has paler undersides, a black mask, and tail rings; Habitat: Marshes, jungles; Diet: Omnivore: frogs, toads, crabs, shrimp, eggs, fruit, seeds; Reproduction: Two to five young are born during July or August; Social Structure: Crab-eating raccoons are solitary animals; Behavior: Late evening is the most active time for crab-eating raccoons; Status: No special status; Interesting Facts: Crab-eating raccoons are excellent climbers. Crabs make up only a minor part of their diet.
