English: Cowes, Isle of Wight The entrance to the River Medina at Cowes viewed from the Southampton car ferry deck.
The ferry docks in East Cowes (ie the other side of the river from Cowes) and this is only a few hundred yards from this viewpoint. The coast in the distance is that of the mainland, Hampshire, in the vicinity of Buckler's Hard on the banks of the Beaulieu River; historically, Buckler's Hard is famed as the place where some of the ships of Nelson's fleet were built. |
