Description
English: County School Railway Station (preserved) This is the road entrance to County School railway station, which was built on the Wymondham to Wells branch line (GER) in 1886 to serve the nearby County School, a public school built in 1875 for sons of farmers and rural gentry. The school closed in 1895, to be reopened as Watts Naval Training School in 1906, closing in 1953. It is a reminder of an age when railways formed the main mode of transport, making it economic to build a station specially for a boarding school.
