Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Countermine at St. Andrews Castle Not perhaps photogenic but historically interesting. During the siege of 1546-47 the besiegers sunk a mine seeking to gain entry, however the defenders dug a countermine which broke into the mine foiling this attempt. Apparently this is now a very rare example.
