Summary

[edit]
Description I turned around and got out my camera when I saw this Corvair awaiting restoration. Chevrolet designed a revolutionary new car, produced only from 1960 to 1969. It was powered by an air-cooled horizontal six-cylinder, rear-mounted, engine made almost entirely out of aluminum. There was no conventional frame, it was the first Unibody built by Fisher Body. Its engineering earned a flurry of patents, many European makers copied its styling, Time magazine put it on the cover, and Motor Trend named it the Car of the Year for 1960. A book “Unsafe at any Speed” propelled author, Ralph Nader, to fame.
