"Quick Eye Spots Problem: Corporal Nathaniel Prince (Louisville, Kentucky) spots a minor problem as he checks over a 60mm mortar tube at Vandegrift Combat Base. Price is a member of Force Logistic Support Group Bravo’s small arms repair team. The contact team was sent to Vandegrift to repair Leatherneck weapons after Operation Dewey Canyon. Marines of 3d Battalion, 9th Marines spent more than 60 days in the A Shau Valley routing enemy forces and uncovering large food, weapons, and ammunition caches. Checking and repairing small arms is an important element in FLSG-B’s task of support and supply for 3d Marine Division forces in northern I Corps (official USMC photo by Lance Corporal Roger K. Nystrom)." From the Jonathan F. Abel Collection (COLL/3611), Marine Corps Archives & Special Collections, Quantico, Virginia OFFICIAL USMC PHOTOGRAPH |
