||
Description |
English: Medieval coin; Struck copper alloy coin with remains of silver wash, probably a contemporary copy of a regional penny of Edward III, dated to 1327-1377 by his reign. The reverse has a pellet at the centre of the main cross, which is a feature of some pennies of Canterbury and York of class 15d and of Durham from the pre-treaty Series A. The coin is also clipped, such that no inscription is present on either side. Quite worn, especially on the obverse – the portrait is very unclear.
Obv. Crowned portrait facing. No inscription present Rev. Long cross extending into the legend ring. Three pellets in each quadrant. Pellet in centre of main cross. No inscription present Diameter 15.1mm, thickness 0.8mm, weight 0.52g |
