30 June 09 Consul General Hosts Independence Day Reception Consul General Lee McClenny hosted the Consulate General’s annual Independence Day celebration at the Hyatt Regency Montréal. In his remarks, McClenny highlighted the close ties between Quebecers and Americans as well as the significance of the administration of President Barack Obama. The assembled guests, from all sectors of Quebec society, enjoyed the view from the beautiful Hyatt terrace and an exhibit of photos taken in Washington on Inauguration Day by Montreal photographer Christine Bourgier. Guests were also treated to a visit by legendary American singer Stevie Wonder, in town to kick off the 30th Montreal International Jazz Festival. Wonder offered his best wishes for the day, and graciously agreed to take a few pictures with U.S. Consulate staff and guests. Photos of the event are available here and more will be posted in the coming days.
30 juin 09 Le Consul général offre une réception pour célèbre l’indépendance des États-Unis Le Consul général Lee McClenny a tenu la réception annuelle du Consulat en hommage à l’indépendance des États-Unis au Hyatt Regency Montréal. Dans son allocution, monsieur McClenny a souligné les liens étroits entre les Québécois et les Américains de même que l’importance de l’administration du Président Barack Obama. Les invités, de tous les secteurs de la société québécoise, ont pu admirer la vue à partir de la superbe terrasse du Hyatt ainsi qu’une exposition de photos prises à Washington lors de l’assermentation du Président Obama par la photographe montréalaise Christine Bourgier. Les invités ont également eut droit à la visite du chanteur américain légendaire Stevie Wonder, en ville pour lancer la 30ième édition du Festival international de jazz de Montréal. Monsieur Wonder a offert ses meilleurs vœux pour la journée et a gentiment accepté de prendre quelques photos en compagnie des invités et du personnel du Consulat.
