English: The Mutha River, is a river in western Maharashtra, India; it arises in the Western Ghats and flows eastward until it merges with the Mula River in the city of Pune; it has been dammed twice, first at the Panshet Dam (on the Ambi River), used as a source of drinking water for Pune city and irrigation, the water released here is dammed again at Khadakwasla and is an important source of drinking water for Pune; one more dam has been built later on the Mutha river at Temghar; after merging with the Mula River in Pune, it flows on as the Mula-Mutha River to join the Bhima River - which itself later meets the Krishna River and finally emptying to the Bay Of Bengal. |

This photography contest was organised to document the Mula & Mutha rivers along with its tributaries in the Pune district on Wikimedia Commons in the form of images and videos with the involvement of active citizens during the time period of 15 May - 30 June 2023. Pune River Revival group, Jeevitnadi, Ecological Society, Samuchit Enviro Tech, Nisarg Sevak, National Society for Clean Cities etc. in Pune and CIS-A2K collaborated together to organise this contest. |
