| Description |
English: Newton’s Principia contains several propositions which make use of Conjugate Diameters of Conic Sections, in particular those relating to the motion of bodies under a central force. In Newton’s day any educated reader would have been taught Euclid and would be familiar with these properties of Conics. This contribution comprises the main results relating to Conjugate Diameters of Ellipses and an example of their use from the Principia (Book 1 Proposition 10). |
