Description

"Confederate Dead at Battery Robinett. A Picture Speaks a Thousand Words. After the October 1862 Confederate advance on Corinth, Mississippi,

northern photographers came to the site of Battery Robinett to record the grisly aftermath of battle. This image, one of only two surviving photos of dead soldiers on a western Civil War battlefield, captured the tragic loss of life following this failed southern attack."
