Description
English: A young female andean Condor in Argentina
Français : Une femelle condor des Andes immature survole la Laguna Tonchek, dans le parc argentin Nahuel Huapi. Les femelles ne présentent pas sur la face, contrairement aux mâles, de caroncules lobées, sorte de proéminence de peau, ni de crête sur le haut de la tête (caroncule supérieure). L’œil brun rougeâtre est caractéristique des femelles, quand celui des mâles est doré. Mâle et femelle ont le même plumage : brunâtre lorsqu'ils sont immatures, noir avec des parties blanches sur les ailes quand ils deviennent adultes. La mue du plumage et l'apparition de la collerette blanche à la base du cou s'effectuent vers 6 ou 7 ans.
