Summary
[edit]DescriptionComponents-of-the-tumor-microenvironment.png |
English: Component of the tumor microenvironment (TME). The tumor microenvironment is a complex system of various tumor cells, stromal cells, and immune cells. It is characterized by dysregulated vasculature and collagen, which results in poor perfusion and densely-packed glycolytic tumor cells. This creates pockets of low oxygen levels, acidic pH, poor nutrient loads, anti-inflammatory cytokines, chemokines, and metabolic by-products, such as lactate. Both myeloid and lymphoid immune cells infiltrate the tumor microenvironment (TME).
