English: Taractrocera maevius, commonly known as the common grass dart, is a butterfly belonging to the family Hesperiidae found in India, Sri Lanka and Myanmar.
தமிழ்: Taractrocera maevius என்று அறியப்படும் common grass dart தாவிகள் குடும்பத்தை சேர்ந்த சிறு வண்ணத்துப்பூச்சி ஆகும். இவை இந்தியா, இலங்கை மற்றும் மியான்மர் போன்ற பகுதிகளில் காணப்படுகின்றன. இவை பெரும்பாலும் பரந்த புல்வெளிகளை இருப்பிடமாக கொண்டவை. இருப்பினும் மலைப்பாங்கான பகுதிகளிலும் சில சமயங்களில் காணலாம்.
மழைக்காலங்களிலும், பின் மழைக்காலங்களிலும், தாவரங்கள் பசுமையாக இருக்கும் நேரங்களில் இவற்றை அதிகமாக காணலாம். மற்ற பருவ காலங்களிலும் குறைந்த எண்ணிக்கையில் காணப்படும். புற்களுக்கிடையில் மெதுவாக பறக்கும் இவை அதிக உயரங்களில் பறப்பதில்லை. பெரும்பாலும் புற்களில் அமர்ந்து ஓய்வு எடுத்துக்கொண்டிருப்பதையும், சிறு பூக்களில் இருந்து தேன் அருந்துவதையும் காணலாம். நெல் மற்றும் இதர சில புல் வகைகள் இவற்றின் புழுப்பருவதில் உணவாகின்றன. சிறகின் மேற்புறமானது ஆலிவ் பழுப்பு நிறத்தில் காணப்படும். முன் சிறகிலும் பின் சிறகிலும் வெளிர் மஞ்சள் நிறத்திலோ அல்லது மங்கிய வெண்ணிறத்திலோ புள்ளிகள் மற்றும் வரிகள் காணப்படும். சிறகின் அடிப்புறமும் மேற்புறத்தை ஒத்த நிறத்துடன், நிற அடர்த்தி மேற்புறத்தை காட்டிலும் சற்று கூடுதலாகவும் காணப்படும்.அடிப்புற பின் சிறகின் அறைப்பகுதியின் முடிவில் வெளிர் மஞ்சள் நிறத்திலான சிறிய பட்டை காணப்படும். வெளி விளிம்பின் கீழ் பகுதியில் வெளிர் மஞ்சள் நிறத்தில் சற்று பெரிய புள்ளிகளால் ஆன பட்டை காணப்படும். |
