Description

The only remaining trace of the Old Columbia Market, Columbia Road, Bethnal Green.

Columbia Market was established in 1869 as a covered food market, by the philanthropist Angela Burdett-Coutts for 400 stalls. The market closed in 1886, and after use as warehouses and small workshops was demolished in 1958
