English: This is a photo of a colony of bacteria Bacillus subtilis, taken with a camera phone through the eyepiece of a microscope. Here is a photo of the colony under 800x magnification. The bacteria were taken from stones in the garden and grown in a nutrient medium, after which they were removed for study.
