Summary
[edit]DescriptionColonel Charles H. Olmstead (7393683976).jpg |
An Honorable Surrender at Fort Pulaski Confederate Colonel Olmstead thought his fort was invincible. But after the devastating bombardment on April 10-11, 1862, he was forced to surrender. Their best efforts could not prevail over the new and superior cannons. As the men laid down their arms, Colonel Olmstead said, “I yield my sword, but I trust I have not disgraced it.” |
