man who entered the cages with the lions. He likedWorcester so well that he decided to give up his perilous positionas a lion-tamer and engage in more peaceful pursuits. The upper portion of this building after being vacated by theWhig party as a headquarters and reading-room, was used as afurniture warehouse and kept, I think, by a Mr. Jones. In 1843 the York House, together with all the buildings fromthat to what is now Waldo street, were burned to the ground.The Central Exchange building joining on Main street was alsoburned at this time. We have now reached the beginning and end of our tour ofExchange street. I thank you for your kind attention, and trustthat no one has been left out of the sketch who is entitled to aplace within it. The paper provoked many pleasing reminis-cences, especially some relating to the old Method-ist Church which stood upon this street and wasburned in 1844. On motion of Mrs. Boland a vote of thanks wasextended to Major Stiles for his interesting paper.

Librarian made special mention of an ambro-type representing the burning of the Merrifieldbuildings in 1854. After full discussion the motion by LibrarianDickinson to discontinue the monthly publicationwas defeated, and arrangements for the continuationof the publication placed in the hands of the Execu-tive Board, with addition of the Chairman of thePublication Committee, they to report at the nextregular meeting.
