Summary
[edit]DescriptionCog-drive truck (14872919923).jpg |
This is a spare set of trucks for the locomotive on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway (that climbs to Ooty). The cog is necessary to enable the steam locomotive to pull up the very steep grade without slipping. Note the start of the cog section on the left part of the tracks. This section of tracks, outside of the maintenance shack at the Mettulapayam Railway Station, appears to be used to align and test the trucks and locomotives. Also, note the wheel chocks which almost look like pieces of chalk. |
