Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Cockburnspath Mercat Cross. Probably erected about 1612, when King James VI granted the village status as a Burgh of barony, although local tradition states that it is older, having been erected to commemorate the marriage of King James IV to Margaret Tudor of England. Carvings show the Scottish Thistle and the Tudor Rose.
