Coastline between Middle Bottom and White Nothe

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Coastline between Middle Bottom and looking towards White Nothe, Dorset, England. The truncated valley bottom in the foreground is Middle Bottom, presumably so-called because it lies between West Bottom and another un-named valley (East Bottom?). The dip in the cliffs at the top centre of the photo is West Bottom, and no doubt it has been getting shorter and shorter as a result of marine erosion. The landslips beyond the beach are below White Nothe in the grid square to the west. The geologist Ian West describes the trip west from Durdle Door to White Nothe as being "as energetic as climbing a small mountain and requires some time". The section of the coast path in this photo is the least strenuous (but longest) part before you reach the heights of White Nothe.
