Description
English: Petty Officer 3rd Class Brennen Coles (left) and Seaman Nicholas Konopka of Coast Guard Station Calumet Harbor place a bouquet of flowers in the Chicago River during a ceremony marking the 98th anniversary of the SS Eastland disaster. When the SS Eastland capsized on the Chicago River in 1915 with more than 2,500 passengers on board, 844 perished in one of the worst maritime disasters in U.S. history.
