Climbing slabs

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Climbing slabs In this quarry are exposed the sandstones of the Ordovician Cwm Eigiau volcanic formation which is around 450 million years old. Today the beds of sandstone are inclined steeply to the south as a consequence of faulting and tectonic forces during the Caledonian continental collision some 400 million years ago. The inclined slabs and easy access make this a popular spot for recreational climbers.
