year she had been perfectly well (except the usual diseases ofchildhood) ; she menstruated normally at 14. During the pastyear she had several attacks of pain in right iliac region, each at-tack being more severe than the last. Temperature 101-103.Pulse 100-120. Nauseated and occasional vomiting. She wasunable to bear but slight pressure over McBurneys point. Uterusand ovaries normal. Diagnosis of recurrent appendicitis was made and operationadvised. I operated on her at her house. Found the appendixbound by numerous adhesions, severely congested lumen, almostobliterature at proximal end. Operation occupied but a few min-utes, patient suffered but slight shock. Third.—Gaugrowiis Appendicitis, including foreign bodies.On the morning of March 28th, 1899, I was called to see Mr. R.,a young man of 22 years, as I was on my way to the hospital tooperate on another case of appendicitis and gave him but a super-ficial examination, but made a provisional diagnosis of appendi-citis.
