Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Cleit Mòr Geologists examining an example of a Scourie dyke cutting across mafic-ultramafic gneisses. The term 'mafic' means that it contains a relatively high proportion of the minerals found in the mantle of the Earth, whereas most crustal rocks are relatively depleted in such minerals. This has implications for the origin of such rocks.
