[edit]DescriptionClay pyxis, Minoan funeral ceremony, Aptera, 1300-1250 BC, AM Chania, 076150.jpg |
English: Clay pyxis from a chamber tomb at the district of Aptera, Late Minoan III B period, 1300-1250 BC. A man in long garmet is playing guitar in a field full of birds, horns of consecration and double axes. The musical scene has a religious character and the provenance of the vase means funeral ceremonies. The player is interpreted as Apollo or as Orpheus, or evens as a singer or a priest. Archaeological Museum of Chania, Π 2308.
