Description Cladonia stellaris (Opiz) Pouzar & Vězda, 1971 (photograph of a herbarium specimen taken through a dissecting microscope (x6) showing tips of podetia) Growing on soil in dry open woods, 2.2 miles W from the U. M. Biological Station, Cheboygan County, Michigan, USA; collected and identified by Richard E. Riefner (No. 81-221, 23 Jun 1981); specimen is now in the Lichen Herbarium of the New York Botanical Garden.
